Thread bumping is when one poster replies again and again in order to bring a thread, that by definition nobody is interested in, back to the forefront.

In some cases threads are bumped repeatedly, 7 posts in a row, with no other poster showing interest. For me this should tell the poster what they need to know.
It's similar to spreading the original post over 5 or 6 posts to give the false impression that the post has traction and replies.

One or two or even 3 may be justified to share "new information", 5,6,7 times.... yawn.

opinions?

Only forum owner (or moderators) can (try to) stop the practice.

This forum is not my pram to throw a rattle out of.

Simple enough to ignore such threads/posts? I do.

JohnD starts threads and usually makes the first 6/7/8 posts to try to spark an argument.
And then disappears from the thread - its almost like he has shares in the forum or is a family member or even the owner and needs to boost activity to attract advertisers. -Say anything he doesn’t like and you suddenly find yourself banned from the thread. Nose licks his arris and strangely gets away with most things on here that other posters find themselves banned for. Funny dat.

Two points:
1. Irrespective of who you are referring to, it's yet another case of not just one post designed to attack the person, and not the content of their post, but a whole thread designed as an ad hominem thread.
2. I probably read nearly all threads, and sometimes I'll appreciate a post, but I don't feel the need to add to it, or respond, except with a thanks or a like. I know I'm not the only one that thinks and acts like that.
So your accusation of no-one else being interested is entirely wrong.
As Rodders said, it's not your pram:

Similar to other posters on here just trying to get peoples attention by being 'controversial' or just plain stupid.

These forums are ruined by idiots, shame.

Mottie and bodd loads of those.
Show me one of mine please. Oh, don't include the long running breakfast thread that you obviously read and enjoy. Just a couple of your thanks from recent posts in that thread: 1743 & 1748

Quite a few of my threads have given long term enjoyment and educated many. I’m well over the million views with my interesting and informative threads, maybe even nudging two million so someone is reading and replying to them.

Now, Bods quiz thread, I’ll give you that. He kept trying to revive it but it’s died a natural death…

I wanted to put a jokey emoticon at the end of my post, but I can't on my phone for some reason....?

Anyway I've edited my origan post. I do enjoy your cooking threads yes. But there's no getting away from the fact that both you and bodd chose thread subjects that would go on and on and on and on....
