I have a upvc patio door. It’s those two doors where you close one door and pull handle up and lock it. That door has to the rods up and down that go into the frame that holds that door shut. Then the other door locks against that door. I have an issue with the door that closes first with the two rods. Pulling the handle up and down to make the rods come in and has become very very stiff and even if I force it to go up the key doesn’t turn to lock it so I think it’s not coming out enough. Hope that makes sense.

Can anyone help what can I do to and check to fix this? It’s a door that I hardly used for a long time I just usually use the single other door

So I sprayed some silicon spray from the top and kept pulling handle up and down and it’s softened up a lot more and now it’s locking but it’s still not soft enough. What’s the correct way to grease these? The mechanism seems inside the door itself

Access is a pain on that type of door, just keep spraying in the silicon from top and at centre to hit the lower rod.

You have French doors then, by the sound of it your problem is with the 'slave' door, the 'master' door is the first door you open.

Try lifting the handle and locking it with the door open, is it easier or the same? If easier then it points to an adjustment issue, if its the same then it's highly likely a gearbox failure or or on the way to failure.

Yes the stiffness is the same either open or closed position. I removed the handle and sprayed lots of silicone and kept lifting handle up and down it’s a lot better now but still a bit stiff. Might repeat the process again to see if it helps more
