Hi all.

A family friend has a garage in a row of garages. Occasionally, people will park in front of the garage, so near that she cannot open the up and over garage door.

From memory, if they were to park at least 600mm away the door could be opened.

The garage is used for storage.

It is small "estate" in west london. AFAIK, it is not a CPZ.

Would it be worth contacting the local council or will they just say "meh"?

At the moment the car blocking her access, and presumably, the garage next door seems to be in a process of being stripped down. In the event that the council are not interested in the lack of garage access, is it possible for members of the public to determine if a vehicle has insurance/MOT/etc?

I don't want to grass the car owner up... but...

I will spend 30 mins to go there and leave a non-confrontational note asking them to leave space such that garage owners can gain access.

It isn't private land though. The estate was probably mainly council when built. That would have been in the 80's. Since then, I would guess that it is now 80-90% owner occupied. AFAIK, the council are responsible for road repairs, meaning that it is not private land. In the entrance to the area, there are single yellow lines. - but it is not a CPZ.

Although in the borough of Ealing, it is one of the few areas where the council doesn't seem to maximise parking revenue from local residents.
