I've never dared to try it. My dehumidifier blows out warm air and that would always raise the temperature slightly. It would be a case of whether the amount of sweat that might evaporate would be more beneficial than the extra heat. What an awful dilemma.
As for the OP's post, I found it hard to sleep in the room with my Tesco air conditioning unit as it would wake me up. I have slept in the same room as my Electrolux with no problem. Sometimes I put earbuds in that play white noise like rain, and that helps drown out other noises.
