Adam Faith 'What Do You Want'. Faith was a heartthrob in the spivvy day of early 1960s British rock & roll. His songs were never more than 2 minutes long, and he was never more than 4 feet tall. He later became quite a good actor, playing amongst others 'Budgie', a small-time villain, on 1970s TV, in the mould of the later Minder or Fools and Horses. His group, although not on this clip, was The Roulettes, members of which were Bob Henrit and Russ Ballard. Both of whom were later in Argent.

He was certainly a cool character. His biography is quite a read, pop star, actor, financial pundit & tv channel owner. Penniless to millionaire to penniless again.
I quite like this song later in his career.
Interesting factoid, his last words before dying of a heart attack were:

"Channel 5 is all s*1t, isn't it? Christ, the crap they put on there. It's a waste of space"

Bob Henrit and Russ Ballard from Adam Faith's Roulettes moved through the sixties, joining forces with Rod Argent from the Zombies to form the group Argent, who had two memorable hits, 'Hold Your Head Up' and 'God Gave Rock and Roll To You'. Singer Russ Ballard went on to become a songwriter, with many successes by other artists during the 70s and 80s...

Last in my Russ Ballard series...'Since You Been Gone'. This song had been released by a few people, including Russ himself, without success, until Rainbow got hold of it and made it into a stunning rocker, bringing out the best of the song. Rainbow were a very boring, plodding heavy rock group of the late '70s who, despite having some big names in its line-up, had no good material, being known for the usual nerdy stuff about wizards and dragons. That all changed when Graham Bonnet, whom we saw a few posts ago in the Marbles, joined, giving them a kick up the pants. He didn't fit in with the heavy crowd and soon left, leaving Rainbow to their tedious devices. Remember them this way...
