We are having a section of wall re plastered in our kitchen as it is very uneven and if left will effect the look of the kitchen floor tiles we will be having fitted. The plasterer said he can plaster right up to the kitchen unit but id rather take the end piece off so he can plaster behind it and then get the piece refitted. The only thing is I don’t know how to get the end piece of the kitchen unit as I can’t see any attachments. Have included a photo of the outside and inside of the cupboard to show you what I mean. We bought the house 7 years ago and the kitchen was already here so no idea where it is from as otherwise i could contact the supplier. Hoping someone on here may know how its fitted.

I would think the end piece has been screwed on from inside the adjacent unit. Generally the screws are hidden either by the shelf or hinges through those holes already showing.

Taking that end panel off would be a nightmare. It doesn't look like a decorative panel. It appears to support the doors and shelves so the unit would collapse if you simply removed it. It looks like a floor to ceiling unit so can you unscrew it from the wall and slide it out.
Your floor tiles will just go up to the edge so can't really see the differnce between that and plaster.
Personally I would just mask it up well and let him plaster up to it as you woul if you were having wall tiles.

Don't take the end panel off, mask it up, skim, pull of tape, when skim is dry caulk and paint.

If you do take the end panel off you'll have to scribe it to the new plaster then caulk it.

Thanks for your replies. I would still like to take it off as would prefer it scribed and we are getting new skirting so think it will look better if cut into new skirting rather than skirting butted against it. I have had a good look inside the cupboard and have found a screw on one side so am guessing it will come off from that. Photo attached.

There may be some other screws will need to take out stuff to take a better look.

Personally, I think it is an end panel that is screwed from inside the unit. As you said, empty the unit and look for any screw heads. At a guess, there will be a minimum of 6 screws.

The top and side may have a thin bead of caulk. You might need to run a knife along it to reduce the risk of ripping the emulsion.

It’s a decorative end panel , quite clearly.

I can’t see any caulk. I will have a go next week getting the panel off and will let you all know how I get on. Thanks everyone for all your advice it’s all been really helpful.

Can’t believe you didn’t empty the entire cupboard in order to remove the screws.

To be fair, the OP did say that they will empty cupboard.

I guess they were waiting for confirmation that the end panel is screwed to the unit.

Exactly right opps, I didn't want to be messing around with the cupboard not knowing what I'm doing or looking for. I wasn't sure if it would be glued on. Glad I came to the right place before I attempted to take it apart.
