Hi all. I hope you are well.

I am looking fornsome advice on the above thermostats. Turned upto a house where one of the bathroom ufh thermostats batteries run out, they all turn off.

Now when opening these thermostats up, it seems like they have wires going into the battery compartment linking them all together. Has anyone seen this before?

Please see the image attached.

I have no idea why this would have been done?

Floor sensor to the left but it isn't clear where the rest of the cables are connected to. Have you got a photo of the back and front of the faceplate?

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I do not.

The other 4 cables connect on to the terminals and springs of the battery compartment. As if they are linked?

Very strange

I think the exact model number is important, and what it is connected to. There are different versions with different accessories, hard to tell without knowing.

Not sure why there would be any wires connected to a NEO Air as it should all be wireless, apart from the floor sensor. The NEO stats are hard wired as well as wireless but they look different to that and don't have the battery pack.

Are the other stats NEO Air's too with the same cabling? Someone may have jury rigged them to share out the one set of batteries to the other stats, that is a bit mad though TBH.

Yes, there are lots of these stats. About 9 of them. One went blank and so all of them went blank downstairs. And so if you replaced the batteries in one, the others would work as well.

Now, the same has happened to the 4 bathroom thermostats. One died, they all died. So this is what I am thinking but cannot for the life of me think why.

Yes, all others have the same cables. I didn't have time to check as I was only doing a boiler service and I didn't have a cable in the van to link it to my meter

I'd be tempted to suggest that they run them as normal and have them all with their own batteries, one set of batteries to power multiples of these stats would probably be used up in no time, That being said, that many stats is a heck of a lot of batteries which may one reason they did it.

FYI - one to check - The default failsafe on the Air > RF controller is to switch that zone on for 12mins p/hr regardless, if the stat doesn't talk to it for 40mins, say when the batteries run out, unless they are all set not to in the settings, so if they all go off then all the zones would do it.
