It's the National Broadcasting service. But a better title should be the International Broadcasting service.Why would something exist to produce content nobody wants?
So it's a form of advertising and promoting the UK internationally.
The government have to finance that, and they represent our interests, so they charge us for that 'service'.
But they've never asked us if we want it.
