BBC Tax for all

Why would something exist to produce content nobody wants?
It's the National Broadcasting service. But a better title should be the International Broadcasting service.

So it's a form of advertising and promoting the UK internationally.
The government have to finance that, and they represent our interests, so they charge us for that 'service'.
But they've never asked us if we want it.

When the BBC reference some other countries they love to to call them "state sponsored media" which is exactly the same as the BBC and especially if everyone has to to pay for it via tax.

Precisley.
But the government want this state-sponsored media network, except that it's not financed by the government. The government collect the financing from us to finance the BBC.
I would say, however that the BBC is not controlled by the government in its programme content, in the same way that others are.
They do appoint the Chair of the BBC though.

Same as damage in Iran, is reported frequently following each raid by US forces.
Rarely is the damage inflicted by Iran mentioned.

New BBC Director General was seen today surveying the state of the BBC gardens. He refused to comment

The RW accuse the BBC of being left wing.

The LW accuse the BBC of being right wing.

A great endorsement then (y)

Puts ads on iplayer. Let people pay £15 a month if they don't want them. Job done. Obviously the BBC will end up with less money, they'll just have to deal with it or go bust like any other broadcaster. If they go bust then someone else will buy its broadcasting licences, brand, buildings etc from the receivers and give it another go.

The concept of broadcast TV is going to end shortly anyway, the transmitters will have gone in a few years. The entire concept is outdated and done with.

I do listen to BBC local radio while working outside, even though it's a bit rubbish, just because it doesn't have ads. But if it ended I'd switch to something else, my world would not end.

I'm not opposed to a tv tax, as long as it's reasonable (£8/month ish). Remember this also funds Radio stations, of which there are many. I think of love TV without ads a bit like the NHS. we all pay to keep it for others, whether we use it or not. and there will be a time when we need it. Ads just ruin TV and I'll not watch any channels with ads unless I'm desperate (I.e. if the show has Suranne Jones in it)

The NHS, fire service is available for us. It provides a service even if we do not currently use it.

A television broadcaster offers content. They do not offer any kind of “we are here incase you need us service”.
