I think the whole experience of buying a vinyl and listening to it on a turn table is the way music should revert back to. I have had enough of downloading music, I want a record collection to be proud of.

I have that capability although I do have a few amps for my guitar that I could use, but would prefer a proper player rather than cobble something together as I live in a high end luxury home.

Starting from scratch. The world is your oyster. Speakers are where you get the biggest improvement for your money. Then amplifier. Then turntable.

OK I get that. So recommendations to gear is what I am looking for, I used to have NAD and Teac gear before but it is probably out dated nowadays. Oh and mission speakers too.

It depends how much bass you want and what type. I prefer mid-range bookshelf speakers where you can plug the port to stop that dreadful, mushy resonant bass. Modern Class D amplifiers can deliver massive power efficiently, making it easy to drive the big, stiff woofers needed for sealed enclosures. This means you can get plenty of deep bass without needing a port at all, resulting in a much tighter, springier, and more natural sound. Ultimately, your choice of speaker design will make the biggest difference.

We don't have any modern equipment. I'm just interested in the latest developments. We have mid 80s sealed enclosure speakers in the lounge with a Pioneer amp. And we have one of the legendary Trends Audio T amps in the study with some bookshelf speakers with their ports bunged with the foam plugs which came with them. I hate bass reflex but most people don't seem to notice to the extent I do. You get a dull resonant bass sound.
