Bought myself a new (10 year old) car last year. Honda Civic. Not bought from a Honda dealer, was an independent garage.

Time to book its service and mot. Contacted garage I bought it from. They want £460 for major service, mot free.

Thought that was steep, so phoned Honda dealer for price comparison (no intention of taking there). They quoted £399 for service and £45 mot.

Phoned the garage I used to take my previous car to. They want £293 for the service and mot.

Surely £460 is on the steep side, no?

(I checked what they all do for the service and the tasks are comparable)

I guess the price may change if they find more work is needed......the Honda quote is just a menu pricing and some of the jobs are horrendous.
Personally I'd use your previous garage, if you were happy with them in the past.
John :)

This is the great unknown, the £460 garage might find £100 worth of additional work, the £293 might find £500 more work!

Anyways, I've gone with the garage I've historically used.
