Jesus, that's horrific. Over-correcting a runway straight into a public carpark is literally every traveler's worst nightmare. So awful for the families involved, especially with a death toll like that right out of the gate.

So far, I believe the plane touched down too far down the runway. Initially only the right main landing gear and the nose landing gear made contact with the runway. Only much later did the left main landing gear make contact and the plane touched down proper.

But by now it was seriously running out of runway.
Apparently the pilot throttled back and started braking, but they realised they were not going to stop in time, so full throttle was applied in an attempt to go around, but they ran out of road. According to flight data, speed brakes were not deployed when they were braking.

Apparently if you land above a certain speed you can’t engage reverse engine thrust or speed brakes, it was by then too late to go around, so it does seem to be pilot error in landing late and fast
