Pixelation on Panasonic LCD TV

I auto-tuned yet still got pixelation with bad signal flagging up. Roku stick on HDMI is perfect.

I've plugged a spare TV in to the same aerial cable and that is perfectly fine for DTV.

I've had the back off looking for bad caps and loose cables. The only thing I've found is the centre pin on the aerial socket is a bit wobbly but still has good continuity to the first pin on the base.

A bad board perhaps?

Why auto tune --- last thing to be done when you get a reception problem! (Sometimes due to things outwith your control that will auto correct when a fault - such as continental interference or a transmitter problem goes away).

Anyways:
Gently nip the aerial centre pin/socket up a tad... Then use the signal condition meter to check you are on the correct transmitter frequencies. Old DVB-T (SD only) sets from that time may find and store the low frequency channels found first and ignore 'better' ones later in the scan. Use https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/detailed-transmitter-information to get the transmit frequency channel numbers to confirm.
Manually scan to correct any anomalies.

That era of Panny TV signal meter is likely on a scale of 0-10 for Signal and 0-10 for Quality but both post agc and error correction so often 10/10 for both unless very marginal location. Q is always more important than S.

Possible that over time aerial cable strain has damaged the connections inside the tuner can... if so a new TV would be the answer (DVB-T2 HD this time).

Culprit found!

Its an AV board fault.

With the HDMI Roku powered up, the Freeview off the aerial pixelates. If I unplug the Roku, the TV goes clear.
Roku TV is spot on so when I want to watch Freeview, I'll simply have to unplug the Roku.

How did you diagnose THAT "fact". Or is it your hypothesis?

= induced interference into the antenna circuit most likely.

Cross-interference is very commonplace: Try:

Better screened antenna cable.
Better screened hdmi lead (or if plugged in direct, try a quality hdmi extender cable to move the Fire TV stick further from the aerial input and cable).

NB Your TV will be unable to decode/display the new TV channels appearing on the D3&4 multiplex as they use the H.264 video codec (ITV2+1, ITV4+1, Film 4+1 and E4 Extra). It may be the way the commercial channels are moving to shoehorn even more channels in than is possible with MPEG2 coding (you get 2 for the price of one).
