EICR results question

A test was carried out & a few points made.
One point was High resistance detected between ring final circuit protective conductors
I was advised one of the sockets would have a loose wire in the terminal hole or the screw has been screwed down partially on the wire & its plastic insulation.

He said he would need to unscrew every socket & look, 2/3 hours work.
Seems excessive time 2/3 hours as there isn't many sockets at all

Is there a tool i can buy to plug in each socket to advise me which socket it is.
I can then secure the screw correctly.

I'm capable of changing sockets no problem so just looking to go straight to the socket in question & rectify it.

The reading figure was 0.91

What was the live and neutral reading? I'll guess 0.55.

And is the wiring twin and earth?

Arr ok it does seem high it should be around 0.35 ish.

Just take the sockets off if there isnt many and re-terminate the earths.

So the earth is the issue in this case.

I suppose once ive done them all then there is no way i can check the reading & he will have to check when he does the other work.

No you won't be able to check without an ohm tester, let him check it if hes got to come back.

Hopefully you sort it and save a bit of cash.

Turn the power off when you do it obviously.

Ok i will switch off electric & check all earths.
I was thinking that there was a tool that you plug in the socket & when switched on get a reading.
If all sockets were lets say 0.3 & one was 0.9 etc then that socket is the one with the fault, either being check wire or just replace socket itself

Is there such a tool like that where once switched on a ohm reading is given ?

Those readings suggest 2.5mm / 1.0 mm cable

Nope if it’s 2.5 / 1.0 would be

X and 2.5 X

still not high enough to give the readings but very few younger sparks encounter 2.5 / 1.0 so they don’t recognise it

No. The reading for the CPC is abnormally high and should be be subject to further investigation

Why did you have the EICR?
Have you had a previous EICR?
Have any changes been made to this circuit? And this would include swapping sockets

Selling property.
I’ve changed some sockets over the years.
Only EICR done otherwise I’m unaware of this.
