But you are prepared to believe them when they say the capital was under attack

He's lost the plot so much now he's actually arguing it both ways

I'm asking YOU how you would positively identify a suspect without a DNA swab.

Answer that (he won't).

The reason I haven't answered your DNA post Joe is because its really really daft.

Think about what you are saying for a minute ... What possible use would a DNA swab be ... What are they going compare it to?

Do you really think that we have a database of suicide bomber DNA?

Suicide bombers Joe not ram raiders or drug dealers ... They are recruited specifically NOT to have shown up on any databases that's why they are so dangerous.

The only way to counter these people is with good active intelligence which has been sadly lacking in the JCdM and (I agree) in Iraq.

So you are saying that there is NO way to identify a possible bomber in any way other than what has already happened in the case we are discussing. Either you work to your best (though possibly flawed) intelligence on the day - or you do nothing. Which to YOU advocate?

I'm not saying that at all Joe as is clear, I'm sure to all but you.

Either you work to your best (though possibly flawed) intelligence on the day
Intelligence should be working ALL the time to identify the real targets, the only bit that should happen on the day is the removal of the LEGITIMATE target.

Good intelligence is the bit we are missing which is what I've been trying to say all along ... If we had good intelligence JCdM would have been a threat and nobody would have lost any sleep with the way he was dealt with.

But we had poor intelligence and an innocent man paid the price.

Simple. There is no possible way of identifying a suicide bomber, or any other terrorist until either: they commit an act of terrorism, or if the intellience lot get lucky and get wind of what they're up to beforehand.

7/7 wasn't the police or the intelligence services fault, it was the fault of the 4 suicidal blokes with bombs in rucksacks. JCDM being shot was the police's fault.

The problem is that intelligence is a flawed science. It can never be anything other than that. It relies on second-guessing what a group of people may or may not do, and relies on tip-offs that may or not be accurate. It then relies on identifying the suspect from 60 million other suspects - yet that identification is nothing more than one person looking at a photograph and saying 'Yup, that's him!.'

So I ask you again, how do you identify a suspect?

So I ask you again, how do you identify a suspect?

Why bother asking the question? Answer that (he won't). You never accept the question has been answered, let alone accepting that someone else has a legitimate view even when it agrees with yours..

Actually Oilman I have finally come to the same conclusion and from this point forward I will simply be ignoring Joe's posts as they serve no useful purpose ... With any luck, if everyone does the same, he'll get bored posting to himself and go and bore someone else. ;)

You are simply backing down. The Brazilian guy was mistakenly identified as a known terrorist. I am asking you both "HOW WOULD YOU RECOGNISE HIM?" What foolproof method do you have that wasn't available to the police on the day? If you cannot answer that - then you've lost the argument.

The police commander( deputy assisstant commissioner Cressida Dick)in charge of the officers who shot de Menezes as been giving evidence this morning where she as said she did not order the shooting but told the officers to stop the suspect anticipating a"conventional armed challenge".Thats cleared that up then,I,m in charge guv but its not my fault.

a"conventional armed challenge".
Hmmmnnnnn ... Not a tactic I'd use against a suicide bomber ... Good way of getting yourself scattered over a wide area
