You'd be a fool not to change everything on that photo.

The fuse board on the right there used to be cream, its faded to orange :? Showing signs of overheating.

If the meter still spins when everythings off, it is charging you for electricity you're not using, or somethings connected VERY wrongly, we cant tell from the photo. Again, get it changed - your supplier will sort this. It is VERY old. The main fuse is in a bizarre place and very old - get it repositioned and have a proper cutout installed, with PME if its available - protective multiple earth.

The whole setup is just ugly.

The only good thing about it is that newish looking RCD in the middle, and that it isn't tripping!!

Not necessarily true, as these boards tended to go this colour due to cigarette smoke, cooking fumes, general airborne grime etc.

I do agree it is in need of some TLC though

 just a thought.

Maybe 'newish looking RCD' is an old ELCB !!

No - it is deffinantly an RCD. It was probably put in to replace an old ELCB.

Most ELCB's do not even look like an RCD as we know them these days. I wonder if I have a pic...

The most typically was the dark brown (very dark) crabtree with a yellow button, and the two earth on the bottom centre.

Lets get the pic into the thread.......
