I have issues!

I am excavating my cellar to turn it into a basement and have a soil pipe that needs burying. Problem is that this takes it below the level of the drains that it needs to feed into (by approx 20cm).

Can anyone recommend a pump that can be used to pipe from the soil pump up 20 cm?

Many thanks,
Rich

So far, I think you don't understand the ramifications of what you're proposing.

The first step is to consult your LABC - what you're proposing is notifiable and controlled work.

You have a soil pipe that is below the drains it is feeding :?:

Why is it lower? :?
he wants to make it lower  so that it`s under the floor of the new cellar/basement/dungeon/oubliette :?

Thanks guys.

I have planning permission & building control involved. However, the architect didn't think through the ramifications of the burried soil pipe. As Nige states, I wish to lower the pipe so that it is below the new basement.

I am looking for a pump, to be located in the lightwell at the front of the basement that would then pump the soil into the drains.

Right then - so what does the BCO have to say about this?

I don't understand why the architect isn't correcting his mistake. :?

I can't see how this idea is going to work.

I think this is more problematical than you might think. I'm no expert on sewage pumps, but I expect you'd need some sort of cesspit to collect your low-level sewage with a level switch operated pump to empty it at intervals into the higher level drain. The whole thing is going to be very expensive to set up and a bit of a nightmare if it ever fails (which it will).

How about some lateral thinking. Couldn't you run the drain along the walls at the correct level and then box this in. Much simpler and cheaper. Or could you divert the drain to the run around the outside of the property (unless it's in a terrace)?
