I am not a football fan, but yea I watch England (joke over).
I remember when these people used to be the manager now they are the coach.
I think I know the difference between the 2 words, so wasnt he a manager.?

A manager manages the business side of things, the coach deals with the players and team tactics. Coach is the proper word. Or If we are talking about McClaren - then Tw*t is the proper word.

it was always a manager in england and only changed to coach when the foreign managers took precedence in our fine nations top division. but whatever you call mclaren he is still a tosser.

The terms are often used synonymously, big difference for me is that a coach also develops skills rather than just managing people and activities.

The national team manager can never be called a coach. A coach is one who who develops and trains the players. International players do not need development or training.

Which is why we need an England coach.....we had 11 monkeys on that pitch last night.

I'm not a mega big football fan to be honest, but IMO the FA should have a good clear out from the top downwards. I mean I heard today that the same guy that appointed McClaren has now been put in charge of finding the next manager, how dumb is that?

Then there's the players, Premiership players don't seem to be interested in playing for their country so why not get players from the lower divisions, who will take pride in having the chance to wear an England shirt and will do their best for the country.

I think that your players (I'm a Scot) do, and rightly so, take pride in the wearing of the English shirt. OK, so things haven't worked out this time round. So what? It's only a game for goodness sake. From now until you reach the end of your lives, you will have your ups (when they win) and your downs (when they lose). You can exchange points of view about the Coach/Manager for as long as you like, but nothing, I repeat nothing, will change that! Your team might have a string of successive wins when you will be on top of the world, or they may lose a few when you will feel as you do now. Such feelings are ephemeral and last only until the result of the next game.
