I can never figure people out. For example:

If you play Russian Roulette you've got one chance is six of dying a very quick and painless death - but you wouldn't get many takers.

If you smoke cigarettes ( the average number per day) you've got a one in two chance of dying what might be an awful death - yet there are no shortage of takers.

Why is that?

In my family alone ...

1. My Grandfathers both died in their late 80's
2. Their sisters and brothers (6 in all) lived to 82,87,87,96,97 & 102

All 8 smoked over 40 a day their entire lives.

Don't believe everything you read in the papers or Google on the web cos it ain't necessarily so.

Try telling that to the 100,000 plus that die every year.

Darwinian theory would suggest that they would have died anyway it's called natural selection.

If you want to discuss Darwinian theory then let's go. It's one of my favourite topics.

However, judging by your last comment it would appear that your grasp of the concept is (at best) poor.

You really are desperate for someone to talk to, does that tell you anything?

There were no kids playing Russian roulette round the back of the bikesheds at my school...just smokin fags.
Most of us who were round there grew up with parents who smoked who themselves were grossly misinformed of the dangers and addictive nature of the evil weed. Surely you new that though?

As a smoker, I'd prefer non smokers didn't question our judgement or ridicule...just be grateful for the all the tax we pay into the kitty YOU take out of.

On the contrary smokers COST the economy big time.

BTW - hope you survive.

Do you drive a car?

Do you eat cakes/burgers/crisps?

Do you drink alcohol?

Why not google how many folk pop their clogs from do those 3 things.

I suppose until Cream eclairs carry warnings like fag packets, we will have to endure this kind of narrow minded stupidity
Maybe they should put 5 quid tax on a packet of crisps? to cover the burden fat ******** put on the NHS?
Anyway, smoking related diseases are untreatable apparantly so how the **** are we costing anything? I can testify that the moment you say you smoke to the docs, they tell you to **** off till you give up - even though smokers pay in more to the goverment that funds their wages.

I'm sure the odds of dying get significantly higher each time you play russian roulette. You are only talking about doing it once, try 20 a day!

You are obviously upset by your own addiction. If you don't have family then who cares what you do with your health. It's up to you.
I agree that all things 'bad' should be taxed.

I'm only talking about playing it once. It's the relative relationship between the rate of death that intrigues me.

So only smokers have a 1 in 2 chance of an awful death?
...we ALL have a 1 in 1 chance of dieing and I don't think there is a nice way reserved you nonsmokers...you will just live longer in some cases...so you will experience a longer senescence - lucky you...maybe then you'l take up Russain roulette?
