Can anyone help. We have just purchased a bath that has no straight level edges. That is around the top edges of the bath it is moulded and curvy - hence nowhere to sit the spirit level; to rely upon!. We need to adjust the feet to level the bath with a small incline towards the plughole. Can anyone give any tips on how we might achieve this? :?

APOLOGIES GUYS - POSTED THIS IN THE WRONG SECTION.

E

put a ball in the bath, adjust it until the ball rolls down towards the plughole.

if the wall is bare plaster then draw a level pencil line about 50mm above the bath.

use this line as a reference point to measure down at duplicate relevant points along the top edge of the bath.

THANKS FOR THIS :D

Put the plug in and put a couple of inches of water in the bath. Adjust until the level (measured with a ruler) seems to have enough fall on it. Take the plug out carefully.

Errrr......would not the board follow the slope of the bath????

All jokes aside, as long as you make sure that the bath is kind of level, AND that the plughole is the lowest point, you should be fine

I once worked alongside a bloke. Ex forces and product of a six week course. He was sticking his level in the bottom of the bath and couldn't see what he was doing wrong. He's probably a gaffer now. He could even be posting advice on this forum.

Would love to see pics of this bath when it's been tiled around.

OK YOU'RE ON. MIGHT BE A WHILE THOUGH!

I have had a bit of divine intervention over a bottle of wine and a period of time sat cross legged on the bathroom floor.

The bath has a fall in the bottom so the water flow isn't too much of a problem. Its more a case of getting the outside of the bath level and symmetrical so the tiles don't look squiff.

My solution so far is:

The highest point of the bath edge is in the corner at 750mm (its a corner bath). Assuming that the other two points of the bath are equal heights then I know the height of each corner. Using the line on the wall method,I can draw a line from the highest point at the corner along each wall and measure down from this point to the top of each other corner!

Then adjust feet!

Bobs your uncle!

Thank God for GCSE maths.

Will let you know how it goes. I'm the brains of the family its my hubbie that has to fit it!

Am I Mad.
All the Baths I have fitted have a natural fall to the plug internally.
You cannot level a bath from the inside unles you want your tiling to be total c**p.
You cannot use the underboard either.
To level the top just cut two pieces of wood with straight edges the width of the bath.
Cut one piece the length of the bath.
Put your level om these pieces of wood to find your levels.
I batton the wall side first anyway will the desired height deducting the foldover of the bath.
Sit the bath on this and then do as above and adjust the bath to your baton.
If you have a rolleop away from the wall then again do as above.
You only need a boat level if cutting timber as decribed.
