Ideal ISAR HE24 boiler issue.

my advice is demand a new boiler now. I have an Ideal Isar HE24 boiler installed under warmfront grant had no choice what boiler was installed. I am onto my 3rd PCB and now in a huge dispute with them as I want my money back as I had a PCB replaced 3 months ago and on christmas eve found myself without heating or water. Rang ideal and warmfront told them I had 2 children under 5 and was heavily pregnant due to give birth in next few weeks. Explained problem said the boiler was out of warranty but I knew that it was the PCB that had gone again and wanted someone out as this part should be under a manufacturers warranty. No-one wanted to know so I had to get independant company out I was without heating or water for 5 days and guess what it was the PCB. I now want my money back and if I get enough evidence to prove this will be an ongoing problem I will be demanding the money to have a new boiler installed as these boilers are crap. I would not recommend an ideal boiler to anyone.

Id be thinking that possibly something else was causing problems on your appliance. 3 pcbs all faulting is a bit weird, could be something else taking them out. Ive had mains voltage fry a board when the electric supply spiked

3 pcb's on an Isar is not that weird. Just carp boilers.

I can't wait for customers to start writing in to watchdog to expose Ideal for the rubbish that they produce and service they give

Even the ideal would be hard pressed to send out 3 dodgy PCBs, I would say they has to be something blowing them

Strange stuff

If you had a full Warmfront grant then surely it will be DEFRA's money you want back.

Our boiler was paid for via Warmfront grant too, but we had to pay something on top as it was over the limit, so I feel we're being ripped off by having a crap boiler installed.

Didn't have any luck with having them to fix earlier in Xmas so the agreed schedule visit for tomorrow is as planned.

Will update after tomorrow.

We are serously considering contacting Warmfront about this but I don't think we'll go anywhere with it.

Has anyone successfully get some of their money back because of this?

Anyone using Warmfront is generally being ripped off. IMHO. Strange how it seems nearly everyone has to pay about £1500 on top of the grant to the installing company (allegedly)

Interesting... we paid about £1100 on top of the grant.

It's starting to look like a letter to Warmfront is a good idea.

could be the fault on this boiler is the condensate trap is blocked, had this yesterday and due to the unique design and ****ty install it wasted 90 minutes of my time.

how the trap gets full so quickly after install is a mystery as my one was backed right up to the h/e connection.

Yeah, but have you seen the amount of alumimium crud that gets into the sump after a short while

or sticks to the h/e itself.

there were more than a few sweary words used yesterday, at least the house was a disgusting mess so i didnt have to worry about the mess i made

Alsways a plan pour a kettle of water over the HE after about 6 months or so, seems to get rid of the paint (which I guess it is) that flakes off the HE and blocks that ridiculously shallow trap

:)

I certainly wouldn't call it paint Matt. It is the aluminimum being eaten away my the condensate as far as I can see

Never saw them painting the HE on the factory tour

Me neither

But I have not seem that "slurry" on any other ali HE?

Wierd stuff that it is

Ahhh Boilers great aint they

:)

This Year I am going to start my new job Talent scout for a brothel

;)
