In my extension I have a solid brick wall which has plasterboard attached to it. I was feeding my TV coax cable down the back of the plasterboard and it was getting stuck somewhere. As a result I picked up the lump hammer and put it through the plasterboard. As luck would have it I found the cable first time!

As a result though I now have a hole in my plasterboard wall which is approx 20cm x 20cm.

How should I fill this? Whatever goes in needs to be a little flexible because the rest of the wall does flex a little bit.

Cheers.

Chris

Cut the hole back to undamaged plasterboard; cut a square of new plasterboard the size of the hole less 2mm (sort of) all round & stick it in with some grab adhesive. Let it go a little firm but not set; put some reinforcing tape over the join so the surface of the new PB is around 3mm below the rest of the wall; you can use a bit more grab adhesive to help things stick. When it’s dry, PVA the new PB + the surrounding area & skim over with some Multifinish or a single coat plaster if you’ve no experience; if you’ve really no confidence in plastering at all, a good quality filler & some sanding will do just as well.
