How much does BS8436 cable cost compared to T/E?

Looked more like that thick metal covered flex.

Like you said though, that Kopex has to have internal earth, so would not think that would count.

doing my 17th edition upgrade next tuesday. From what I have read so far, most of it is just about moving bits of the regs around to suit europe with some add ons about mobile theme parks and markets and temporary installations. (I love europe since the introduction of temporary charging of VAT in the 70's)

While they claim is is metal conduit it looks to me more like american style armoured cable.

This issue with depth without protection, are they simply trying to get us to use the oval pvc conduit?

Gives about as much protection as a condom in a needle factory.

I saw a drill this week with built in stud/pipe/cable locator

I am of the opinion that any lighting on RCD protection is a bad idea trips and falls etc.

Would love to see how some of the fellas are doing their own emergency lighting in their houses, my wife would have a dicky if I installed a lovely green and white exit sign above the front door

PVC is no good, the part of the requrement referred to by Pensdown referrs tor an earthed conduit complying with BS EN 61386 and satisfying the requirements of the regulations (BS7671:2008) for a protective conductor.

Which means, of course, that even if you aren't using the armour as the cpc you can't bury 16mm² 3-core SWA, or 16 or 25mm² 2-core, unless you RCD protect it.
