Sorry. Just want to help.

If it was a solder joint leaking, I just drain down, cut in pipe at both side of leaking joint, let it dry out, refit new joints, undo the connector on radiator valve near where pipe is to let steam vent, solder it up, reconnect valve, refilling system, vent rads. Done.

Or for me, I freeze the pipe at both end of pipe, cut in, fit comp fitting, leave to melt.

could do that but I rather stop both end. It might not work if the system got a AAV on it. I rather not have a open end on a filled system. If a vac failed, water damage will result in a unhappy customer.
