Hello all

I have a plasterer coming in to skim some walls where there used to be tiles. The tile adhesive is still on the walls and it would be a rush to have it all chiselled off before he comes.

The adhesive is stuck pretty sound and about 3-4 mm thick.

Is it ok to skim right over this?

Darren

If the old tile adhesive on the wall is sound, then a plasterer would have no problem skimming over it. It would provide a good key. A coat of bonding plaster over it first, let it set, and then a couple of coats of multi finish, would work no problem.

Roughcaster.

If he's expecting just a skim though & quoted the job, he may well charge you extra. I prefer to remove the adhesive, rough fill the larger holes & then skim.

thanks guys - an extra £50 to bond it first was the outcome....
