Can anybody suggest how I might gain access to the inner workings of this tap? It is leaking from where the tap top part enters the body, just past the top of the screw thread. Note that black tape at bottom is temporary as water running from leak mentioned down here and under cupboard.

There should be a rubber seal which stops water getting under the tap. If you get the spout of, what then?

TBH, the tap looks at least 5 years old. I would suggest going to a DIY store and paying at least £80 for a replacement tap.

Undo small grub screw at back of tap body and remove spout.
Wrap o-ring(s) at bottom of spout in few turns of ptfe tape and re-assemble.
Usually works ok.

But I see no small grub screw!!

Try putting the spout at one side or the other, ie parallel with the wall, and see if it'll lift out then.

Change the O rings to stop it leaking, and grease with silicone grease.

Obviously you also need to seal between the tap and the sink!!
