Considering how much sheet lead and copper prices have sky rocketed

Sheet lead last year 85 cents a pound today $3.86

Copper 5/8 Ell was 5 cents now 54 cents

Has your government allowed new plastics to be installed / approved in codes, to help keep building costs down?

There are some plumbers now using PEX instead of black steel or copper for heating.

They claim its faster I guess being old school I never considered plumbing /gas fitting a race

Scrap yards are giving £3 a kilo for clean copper and guess who has got 10 kilos in his shed.

I think brass is about £1.50 a kilo but will find out and post it also with the current lead price. :D

Having a refit at work. You wouldnt believe the number of tossers in transit pickups who have been sniffing around. Trying to collect old shelving, wire bins, etc. One guy asked what we were doing with the old fridges!

The thing is, its a big national company, what do they think we're going to do with them? Flytipping??? They look so surprised though, when I tell them that everything is being recycled and will be taken away by our contractors. As if we'd go selling them to ******.

I just told them anything in the skip, they can have. But that was all wood and plastic sheeting and general rubbish.

had some ****** round just last night, any spare metal in the garden sir?

he he he

3 weeks ago other side of my fair town a street had 18 drains removed. ****** stealing all over to weigh in,

I had 36m of PFC nicked from behind my house at the start of the year.

I'm still intrugued as to how they managed to lift and remove it unnoticed.

This has all been going on for a couple of years now, I can't see why legislation isn't brought in requiring scrap dealers to collect ID/vehicle registration details from all sellers.

They are even nicking plaques from war memorials

Nothing wrong with PEX, it's the future. (I've tasted it )

Well I wouldn't be in a hurry to get the job done if I was on a plumbers hourly rate!

most all new homes and refits in canada are now done in 1/2 or 3/4 PEX you can get it at most reno outlets and rent the crimpers.

No reason why they can't.
Ours require that you phone up in advance and use a vehicle with a registration so they can record it.

Actually, I would arrive on my push bike if I could

A lot of they guys who have scrap yards are ****** too and are happy to take the scrap because they get a whole lot more than they pay for it. Most of them will know if the stuff coming in is knocked off.
It's worth phoning round scrappies because there's a vast difference in what they give for different products.

There people who are going to car boot sales and buying up brass items and selling them for scrap at a profit.
