anyone got any pictures of fault board scenarios? got 2391 practical on monday and its just the fault board I need to do, passed the other 3 but not being an electrician am struggling to see all the faults on the fault board

They are quite obvious faults, you are just doing it as you would an initial verification i.e. look at the conductors, where they are going etc. Make sure the conductors are in the correct connections i.e. polarity. Look at the main bonding, see if it is up to scratch and continuous along its length. Look for RCDs for socket circuits. Check the conductors are tight, not too much insulation stripped back. Check the cables not bent sharply. Check the fuse board schedule is correct and present.
 
Cheers will revise the initial verification stuff in GN3
 
And check for identification of conductors. i.e. colour ident sleeve on any live conductor (switched or otherwise) Strappers colours etc.

...and the old favourite - 2 t&e cables on their side clipped together in one cable clip!
 
Think it was labelled for outside use when I did the exam, however it didn't have an RCD (back in the days of the 16th edition) so got noted down. Now of course, if it is to the 17th edition then all normal sockets should be on an RCD.
 
I had a damaged cable-entry grommit on mine, just a slice through it you couldn't see it unless you pushed it around.
 
Some of the things are hard to notice-sliced grommet could be difficult to pick up-on the last test they had 1.5mm wire feeding 2.5mm wire but that wasn't a fault?

Why would it be? The 2.5 might be for where the cable is passing through thermal insulation or high ambient etc. It could just be for volt drop, have installed 25mm² tails onto a 70mm² cable for VD before.
also are the mcb's supposed to be type B? cheers
Depends on what the load is really.
 
mine was general things like..

no earth sleeving on one of the T+E earths
no earth wire from the armoured cable banjo
non continuous wire on the bond from board to water and water to gas ( two cut ends under the earth clamp screw )
32A breaker on a 2.5 radial
missing blanks from the knockouts in the board
neutral from RCD protected circuit in the non rcd neutral block
earths in wrong terminals on earth block
twisted T+E
mains polarity wrong on the incommers ( so all the breakers were then on the neutral )
