Can't decide wether to go for quick step perspective laminate or get an engineered oiled wood floor.
Are there benefits in either choice or is it a case of preference?

Engineered is real wood, laminated not.
Real wood adds value to you property. Laminated not.

depends on the amount of use it gets also it does not always add value to your house laminate is very hard wearing engineered is not scratches very easily

damage to real wood is repairable - damage to laminate is permanent.

i agree with WYL on this one, laminate is poor mans floor covering. 'tis easy to find, easy to fit, cheap to buy - flooring for the masses.

it suits a purpose perfectly.

i used it through my lounge and dining room whilst the sprogs were young, till i could afford a better product.

On your web site it says cut ply under floor to small strips? can i not just cover floor in 8x4 sheets and swcrew to floor boards and leave loose over concrete section? Also does dpm go under ply on concrete section?

ok,
Ordered my ply.
This is how i plan to tackle it.
Lay6mm fibre board over concrete section, then ply over floorboards of 6mm
Then run a 2mm underlay over it all.
Oh and put a sheet of DPM on concrete first. I assume any DPM from builders merchant will do rather than one from the flooring place.

whyme, you know how I think about this (emails to and fro) - we would still prefer one type of subfloor in this case. But you're 'the client' ;)

But your the pro(if you get my drift)
OK where can i buy the glue to glue the boards down?
