    Strange vibrating/banging noise

Looking for ideas on what this strange banging noise could be. The closest thing I can liken it to is a train on the tracks vibration/banging without an actual engine sound. You can't just hear it, you can feel it. It happens every day regularaly at around 7am/7pm but not regularly enough to...

Old extractor fan vent size adapter

Hi Guys, I've moved into a property (1985 build) which has a bathroom vent above the shower. As you can see from the pics the vent is just covered in loft insulation which has gone a bit, errrr, bad. I'm going to fit some ducting. However everything current seems to be 100 or 120mm. The round...

Anyone know what socket this is under my stairs?

I'd came to that conclusion myself although wasn't sure if it was BT or something that proceeded BT, British Telecom in some other form that we know today. Is it "normal" to find a BT socket under the stairs? Could this be an actual master socket connected on the main telephone circuit, an old...

Anyone know what socket this is under my stairs?

Does anyone know what this old (BT?) socket under my stairs is? Its got a cable going to/from it and both disappear up into the ceiling under the stairs. House is mid 80s build. I've read this can be the master socket but my master socket is in the hallway. I don't know if its active as I don't...

Plans approved and Two Month Date meaning.

Just browsing building regs on the council's website. Noticed that most things have a "Five week date" and a "Two month date" What are these please? I assume they are dates of inspection? But google does not help much here. They could be some kind of deadline dates? Also, the different...

Existing single storey extension to double storey

Understood. I don't think it will be an issue in this particular case, thankfully, as its the side of the house with no windows. The windows are at the front and back of the house, for both houses. There is also a decent amount of clearance left, you can actually walk around the extension to...

Existing single storey extension to double storey

Just to clarify, these are my before/after pictures. The house is detached so won't be any issue with touching neighbour's boundry. The only thing that worried me was having a flat roof on the extension. Looking out side now, I can see lots of flat roofs/ground floor extensions with pooling water.

Existing single storey extension to double storey

I now realise how bad my drawings are.:( Literally just an add on to the side, like a lean to. Nothing to the front This is kind of what I have now... basically a lengthening of the kitchen, but is it possible to build on top of it to lengthen the upstairs room too? Or would the roof line mean...
