Ideal C80FF gas-fired boiler - repair or replace?

We have an Ideal C80FF "wall-mounted, gas fired, fanned flue, combination boiler" which, when working properly, is perfectly fine. However, it goes through cycles where it trips out (usually first thing in the morning) and I have to climb into the attic to press the orange lockout button to...

Trying to find unusual sealing washers for shower mixer tap

I heard the shower running last night whilst switched off! The cause of the leak turned out to be fairly obvious – see pic below. Does anyone know of a source for replacement sealing rings please? They seem to be a sort of silicone material in a U shape. Also, could there be seals missing...

Source of 18mm beech effect boarding?

Sorted! Nearest supplier was New World Timber but they don't deliver single sheets and don't cut. The 2,800mm x 2070mm x 18mm sheets won't fit in the Bongo! So, a builder mate tracked down a sheet at Jewsons and they are delivering to my door Monday afternoon - all for less than £50

Source of 18mm beech effect boarding?

I have moved a tumble dryer and washing machine out of the kitchen and want to fill the gaps with sliding wicker basket jobbies. I would like to attempt to build my own carcasses on which to mount the sliding baskets because: a) the gaps left aren't exactly 600mm and that means I can fill...

What mastic to use to fit bathroom sink please?

Thanks for the quick replies folks! I did some more searching and the terms silicone and mastic seem interchangeable :? I guess when the sink was fired it went out of true so it is quite rocky on the worktop. Maybe it won't need as much silicone as I think - hopefully!

What mastic to use to fit bathroom sink please?

I can only find roofing mastic listed. Is there something different to use when fitting the sink unit to the worktop or can I use silicone sealant please? There is quite a bit needed!

    Appliances in bathrooms

Thanks for the reply! The bathroom is rectangular and it will be possible to build the appliances into a unit that would prevent water being sprayed on them. Although the shower does not have a fixed head, in normal use the only time the carpet gets damp is when I step out of the shower...

    Appliances in bathrooms

Hi folks :D I have spent a while trawling through the forum and following links (sadly quite a few no longer work - particularly the NICEIC ones) but haven't found a definitive answer to the question about whether I can install a washing machine and condenser drier in my bathroom. I...
