    PIR False Alarm

Morning All, Went to bed last night at around 22:30 and set my alarm on night mode as usual. Woke up at 02:50am to my alarm going off. Got up and inspected “Kitchen PIR” was in alert but nothing else. After inspection, no signs of forced entry etc. Just wondered what could of caused a false...

    Refreshing Gloss

All, After some advice, I am decorating the whole house slowly (shoot me now). I need to tackle the gloss skirting and internal door for the study. Traditionally, I have sanded, wiped down with white spirit and then applied my fresh gloss paint. 1) can I use “super grip primmer” to avoid...

Thanks for the prompt reply. As already have the siren, can I just hook up a 12v feed off the panel to the battery terminals? The router is 12v.

    Texecom Premier Elite

Chaps, Just installing the above alarm. Few questions, appreciate some input: 1. External Siren is wireless and takes 8 AA batteries. Old siren was wired. Can I take the 12v feed for the siren off the panel and wire up to external siren so I can “fit and forget”. 2. I am programming the...

    Lintel above front door

We have a lintel outside that bridges the external leaf however we don’t have one on the inside and the bricks are just sat on the door and window frame. Luckily the floor joists run to the side walls but we don’t have any lintel on the internal leaf.

    Lintel above front door

The door? It’s very poorly fitted as the original glazers haven’t deducted anything of the width and height to allow for alignment. Its been forced in and isn’t square so opens/closes poorly and It’s very faded on the outside and has a rather large split along the bottom. I’m thinking of...

    Lintel above front door

Hi All, I’m looking to have a new door put in as the current upvc one is looking scruffy. I removed the plastic boxing in from around the door and it appears it has no lintel. The house was built circa 1910 and has a stone lintel on the outer leaf but nothing on the inner. The original glazing...

Hi Photo attached, I want to build a new brick stack where the red line is for the steel lintel to rest on and then remove the parts that are marked with blue lines. Thanks,

    Narrowing chimney opening

Hello all, After some advice, I would like to narrow a chimney opening following the removal of the fire surround. The opening currently has a steel lintel supported by two jambs on the right hand side the jamb leads up to a large concrete plinth where the old water tank used to sit, the side...

    Leaking Shower Seal

Hi we have fitted a curved shower screen above our bath, fitted the seal and it seems to leak in the corner. No matter which way we cut the seal or get a different type of seal it still leaks. It seeps out where the hard plastic of the seal joins the metal bracket and where the rubber seal joins...

    Loft insulation it two weeks

Hi John thanks for the reply! I have attached the a pic with some info below to help explain things further. So basically the beams the white board was attached to, can I go ahead and remove this or have I got to worry about the large brown beam that runs round the loft which seems to...

    Loft insulation it two weeks

Hi John, Thanks for the reply! Ah sorry for the confusion the white chipboard covers up the little battens under the large timber joist. The joist does go into the wall quite a bit (Im say joist but its just a large part of timber !) Any way it runs all the way round the loft space which...
