    Demolition dominoes!!

Morning everyone - really hope someone can help, I'm going round in circles!! Planning an extension and whatever the details, the outbuildings need to come down first. Problem is that the store seems to be a self standing structure, that is also supporting the garage? One wall of the store...

replacing the door seal on a hotpoint WT960 washing machine

I just spent 30 minutes following the instructions and now have a lovely working washing machine! Crapped myself slightly upon taking off the electronic panel but all went good! Thanks a lot! Top post! :)

remove or board over old slat ceiling

Had to do this to my house recently. I simply tore off the old slats (and horsehair plaster!) and fixed new plasterboard to the joists. Fairly straightforward if a little dusty and knackering on your arms. Make yourself a deadman prop!) Basically two pieces of wood shaped like a 'T'...

    DVDS on Ebay

Seems a fairly straightforward question I have asked. How can I make it simpler than it is????

Is this bad plastering look at my pics

[/url] Christ! I did a weekend intensive course and so far have done four 'proper' jobs for friends kind (and trusting!) enough to ask me to do it and I can hand on heart say that the plastering there is diabolical! Even my baby step first go did not produce results like that! I...

    tips for a newbie?

Brown side of plasterboard goes to the wall!! White side should be facing you! Also, make sure you score the board on the brown side to cut it! Before you start trying to bond, make sure you have pre-measured and have ready your boards. Bonding has a limited working time before it goes solid...

£220 for a 10 week DIY plastering course???

I paid £299 for an intensive weekend course and nearly died at how easy it was when you are shown properly! Previously, I had done my entire livingroom and made a complete balls of it (it was so bad I was reduced to 'smoothing' the plaster with my bare hands! Haha!)! Anyway, why spend...

    Hob wiring (again!)

Ah no! I understand what I have to do with mine what I'm saying is that the manufacturers perhaps needn't have all the gubbins on display further confusing the inexperienced diy'er who doesn't read the manuals! Haha! For instance, my Baumatic 6kw hob has all the usual horseshoe set up but the...

    Funny smells

Just a giggle this one! I have safely and successfully fitted my sockets and appliances in my kitchen and checked everything so don't be alarmed! Upon coming home last night, I smelled what I thought to be burning. Cue me and the missus frantically running around, turning the mains off...

    Hob wiring (again!)

Yeah, they say that the heat resistant three core should be used but the old hob I took out did not appear to have that type of cable. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was 2.5mm T+E just in white casing. You would think that the manufacturers of these hobs would get wise to the fact that intial...

    Hob wiring (again!)

Hello! My cooker switch wiring has been done with the appropriate 6mm T+E. Can the same cable be used to hook up the cooker switch to the appliance (Ceramic hob. 6kw). The 30 amp fuse will be dedicated to the hob alone by the way. Baumatic do not supply cable as part of their kit. Logic...

    Ikea kitchens

Are fantastic but their drawer/door units do not come premarked with drill holes (like Magnet's do) so it makes accuracy of drilling and measuring an immense arse! Its my only fault find with their stuff! Plus its cheaper and better than what B&Q or homebase offer for greater cost!

Oh no! Another DIY Oven and Hob fitter alert! With pictures!

Thank you! I'm not deluded to attempt it otherwise I wouldn't have sought the expert opinion. From a piece of newspaper I found filling a void, it would appear 1968 was the year of installation! Would it be feasible for me to uprate and extend the existing hob wire, so ensuring the hob alone...

Oh no! Another DIY Oven and Hob fitter alert! With pictures!

Hello Oh wise men! I'm refitting an entire kitchen and will be putting in a ceramic hob rated at 6kw. Not sure about the oven yet as I need to sort out the fuse. The previous set up (new world trash) operated from a 30 amp fuse and a very old looking cooker switch. The consumer board came...
