    Finally revamping the bathroom!

Needless to say it started getting a bit busy so I just didn't have time to update as I went along! Most says I was starting at 8 as soon as the wife left for work and not downing tools until 7. One night I didn't stop until about 10. Here is the nearly finished bathroom. Its taken longer...

    Finally revamping the bathroom!

First thing this morning I started getting everything moved in the back bedroom so that I could get to the hot water pipe to cut in to make a cleaner route for the Trevi Boost. After shifting everything and getting the boards up I fond that the cold water pipe running to the loft runs alongside...

    screwfixwardrobes.com

We got our sliding wardrobe from SpaceSlide which is now apparently working with screwfix. We were very happy with the end result and it was a doddle to fit. We put ours along the full wall in our bedroom which has a chimney breast in it. It was about 4m long and what I did was get 4 end...

    Finally revamping the bathroom!

Final few bits have arrived at last, the chrome click wastes from Ebay and my tiling tools. I'd bought a 5kg bag of sand & cement from Build Centre for just under a fiver last week as I need to fill a hole with a couple of bricks. Then I noticed that I needed to repair some blown plaster...

Need to use a bunch of male irons...how to make a seal

Thank you both, that might explain why I couldn't find an appropriate sized fibre washer.

Loft insulation with a twist (pictures)

Is the entire loft boarded or just a portion? I recently boarded out about 1/3 of our loft space and the rest is just insulation. I didn't do it all as we didn't need the space and having too much just encourages the long term storage of crap.

Need to use a bunch of male irons...how to make a seal

In the upcoming bathroom renovation I need to use a bunch of male irons, 2 for the venturi shower and then 2 each for the 3/4 swing check valves. Since the connections will be thread on thread only, am I supposed to use a bunch of PTFE or something to seal it or pick up a fibre washer? I...

    Finally revamping the bathroom!

I've spent a good few hours today getting the old paint off of 3 of the walls which was under the wood panelling. A bit of hot water on a sponge made a lot of it come of fairly easily with a wide blade paint/paper stripper. The 3 walls I did were the key ones that NEED to be tiled as soon as...

    New Bathroom

We are just about to do ours and I was in your situation a week or so ago when I started pricing up. Originally I'd had a look around the local BathStore and pretty much priced everything up from there. In the end we got nothing from them party down to cost and party down to hearing a few too...

    Finally revamping the bathroom!

A little while back the wife and I bought our first house and set about making it a home as detailed in the link. //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=203825&start=0 With a functioning if somewhat ghastly bathroom we decided to spend our time and money working on the rest of the house...

Vinyl in the b/room, glue or not? under pan/cabinet or not?

We've got some vinyl from carpet right for the bathroom. It's 3.7mm thick and has a weight of 9000 according to the site. Since it's going onto floorboards I know i need to put down some ply first but I've seen conflicting opinions on whether to glue the vinyl down or tape just 2 sides of it...

    16x10" wall tiles 8 or 10mm notched?

Thanks once more Richard. I've picked up a Rubi 10mm U notch trowel, a marshalltown grouting float and a whisk for the adhesive/grout.

    16x10" wall tiles 8 or 10mm notched?

Hi Richard, thanks for the reply. The tiles weigh 1.2kg each and are 10 per sq m. That leaves me with some headroom on the weight front. I was sold some cement based powder adhesive by tilebase (where I got the tiles) which is weber.set plus. I've only ever really seen Bal bounced when...

    16x10" wall tiles 8 or 10mm notched?

In a week or so I'll be doing our bathroom and wifey wanted 16x10" tiles with 24x3" border. Just checking which notch depth I should be going for. Some walls are skimmed others are just render. The border tile is a couple of mm thicker than the main tile. Since its smaller am I going to...
