Do I need to support stone sink across it's full width?

Hi folks, I bought a vintage stone sink, from 1920 I'm told (picture below) which I intend to use for an outdoor kitchen. I'm wondering, do I need to support this across its entire width or can I just support it either end. I.e. do I need to build a slab under it or can I just support it at...

Hi folks, I have a terrace that has this shape: : _ _| Hopefully you can see what I'm getting at. Basically two L shapes. Since I need to have a gradient away from the house for drainage, I'm wondering how best to handle the corners. I will be using large format tiles. Will I need to create a...

    Patio Paving

Hi folks, We live in the south of France and would like to pave an area of our garden using pavers (large format ones, say 50cm x 50cm). We want to pave a total area of 40m2 (~400 sq ft). From what I read, I need a weed barrier, then gravel foundation of around 10 cm (4"), then sand and then...

How to lift and move a 300kg wood fired oven?

Fair play to you for this suggestion. There was an open day at a local winery where I know the guy that runs the place. I went along and what do you know... he actually had a mini tractor sitting there with forklift attachment in place.... And to think that I hadn't thought of this! Cheers!

How to lift and move a 300kg wood fired oven?

How to lift and move a 300kg wood fired oven?

Thanks Chud, To go the short way, there is a large step. Then there is a long way over grass where you can avoid the step, but there's a narrow passage about the width of the oven along the way. Might be difficult getting it back out of the van at the other end? I live in France and I'm not...

How to lift and move a 300kg wood fired oven?

Hi folks, Two years I built a 26" wood fired oven. We live in rented accommodation and the oven was designed so that it could, in theory, be moved when the time came. Well... now we are buying a house and the time has come! The question is how to lift and move it?! Picture below: The oven...

    Caring for semi-solid oiled floor

Hi folks, We want to install wood flooring throughout a new house we are buying. We've heard too many warnings against solid wood and have decided now to get semi-solid boards. I prefer the look of an oil finish and like that it can be refinished in smaller areas. However, the maintenance...

Will steaming paper off walls cause problems with wood floor install?

Hi folks, I'm planning on laying solid wood oak boards on elastilon over tile. If I have boards sitting in the rooms they are to be installed in for 2/3 weeks beforehand and then I use a steamer to get the wallpaper off the walls - will I be able to lay the boards immediately after - or will...

    Wooden Floor Brands/Manufacturers

Thanks for that. It's good to have some names to start. I did more digging regarding the Leroy Merlin product that people appear to have problems with. There is a facebook group set up of customers trying to get satisfaction. You have to see some of the pictures - some unbelievable warping...

Floating solid wood floor vs. Engineered floor

Actually if you read the reviews of some of those products on LeroyMerlin.fr (using Google translate :-) ) you can see that many people have had problems with swelling. The only 5-star review I can see is from a guy that glued them down. I'm thinking perhaps with Elasilon they could work?

Floating solid wood floor vs. Engineered floor

Here is the product (see attached image). You can see (if you look closely) that the installation method is "Pose Flotante - Clic (plus facile)". You can see that the boards are solid wood and are designed to click together without glue. Also, here is a link to similar products...
