How to remove these plumbing clamps please?

Hi, So this is the outlet hose that takes the dirty water from our dishwasher to the drainage under our sink. The grey pipe used to just sit in the white tube. About 4 months ago when there was a smell under our sink, we called plumber out and he found a blockage at the end of the grey pipe...

Whole house surge protectors not available in UK?

The discount is great and a fantastic manufacturer too. But there is no indication of what it is 'filtering' (surges, RF noise?) and to what levels. I've done quite a bit of researching from all sorts of sources and the concensus is as follows: * There are varying degrees of surge - from...

Whole house surge protectors not available in UK?

    1. k thanks, I've searched 'house surge protector' on RS and it comes up with all sorts. Can you please help me pick out what I want from the list? I want to protect all my sockets with a single device coming into a 3 bedroom bungalow. I have an electrician that will fit it, but need to know...

Whole house surge protectors not available in UK?

. Can anyone tell me why these aren't available from a UK source (or correct me if I'm wrong)? They are heavily advertised in US and can be bought at competitive prices, supposedly bringing long term durability to devices that might otherwise wear down expensive components connected directly...

Maintaining temperature in new empty building?

I can set the stats to 14*C, but any lower they just go to the off position, kicking in anyway below 6*C to protect pipes. We don't have contact with our Director of Property as he has since resigned, but I'm sure the issue must be relevant to other new / empty flats.

Maintaining temperature in new empty building?

I'm managing a building with a similar design to a 3 floor Travel-Lodge, but where occupants stay long term. The building is just over a year old and when it was handed over we were told that unoccupied flats needed to be maintained at 14*C because it was a new build and cold could have a...

Purpose of ball end on some hex keys?

Presumably though, a standard hex key would be prefered if there are no access issues and the hole can be met straight on?

    Ribe and Spline bits

I've been looking at a great socket set, but it also includes some 'ribe' and some 'spline' bits. On which sort of items are these threads found? How common are they?

Purpose of ball end on some hex keys?

Why do some hex keys have a ball end? Are there some sockets that are contoured in some strange way? - I'm yet to find one! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-Ball-End-Hex-Key/dp/B0001IW7TS

Glueing a garden hose to non standard tap?

Glueing a garden hose to non standard tap?

Hi! The tap I want to feed my hose from is non standard. I can get an 'okay' fit by pushing the plastic screwthread at the end of the hose onto the little plastic end of the tap. It feels reasonably tight but unfortunately the whole hose quickly shoots off the tap with even a little bit of...

    Easy light switch question.

Hi, Thanks for the advice. Up and running again now. Re. the other thread. The replies I got were a complete waste of time. In the end I sussed that no-one knew what they were talking about / thought that their knowledge was privilidged. That circuit was parallel as I had suspected, and...
