Purpose of ball end on some hex keys?

The only reason to prefer them is that they're cheap. A handled driver is much faster and far more pleasant to use. The only reason not to use one is if it can't apply sufficient torque. Then I use a T-handled key, or a hex bit in a ratchet spanner.
