    Neighbour obligations/ legality chimney maintenance

It’s just cost me £2k. Plus £2.5k for the dormer. Got several quotes and all were the same. Paying for theirs isn’t an option for me… they aren’t short of money either.

    Neighbour obligations/ legality chimney maintenance

Because the neighbour won’t even pay for their flashing and motar to be repaired. And I’m presuming a stack removal would cost more than that….

    Neighbour obligations/ legality chimney maintenance

I like some advice on chimney maintenance and legalities regarding shared chimney stack. I live in a ~1890s stone terrace and have, over the last year or so, had water coming in my attic bedroom ceiling on chimney breast wall, I've had: Flashing redone and sealed Tiles replaced Flaunch...

    Attic leak/ condensation.

Oops. Sorry insulation. None, tbh the attic hole was originally built by last owners. Built for aesthetics, I’ve never put insulation on there because it would be difficult to get the rolls up without taking part of the ceiling down. There’s lining membrane under the tiles which is in good...

    Attic leak/ condensation.

Not much to see, mines the house with the open dormer windows, chimney is to the right. Bathroom not an issue, it’s under the attic bedroom on the middle floor. But good vent straight to outside, and I live on my own and shower at the gym or work most of the time. Unlikely cause. The...

    Attic leak/ condensation.

I should also add. The worse the leak has been (from bedroom view, was running down walls) was after “storm Ada” and I’d been away for a few days. So hadn’t been using cooker hood extractor… just considering this as roofer can’t seem to source issue.

    Attic leak/ condensation.

Hi, I’m a home owner and have lived in my property some ten years. About a year ago, water started coming through my attic bedroom ceiling. Roofer came and said I needed new flashing round chimney. He’s a nice guy and have used him all the time I’ve been here. But it’s not fixed the...

Noisy Oven Fan (moved from Projects)

Dear all, I've just replaced the element on my Neff U1721N2GB electric oven which I think (/hope) has solved a tripping problem I had. However, in this model there is a rather annoying feature which means you have to take the fan off to unscrew the old element. This was tricky, some WD40 and...

    Oven Tripping Fuse box

Dear all, I know there have been a few posts on this and I've been following some threads to troubleshoot - but this is as far as I've got. I have a Neff double oven (U1721), which has tripped the fuse a few times in the past month and is now doing it continuously. Not sure how old it is, it...

    Simple plumbing question...

Hi All, My push flush toilet mechanism broke (wasn't stopping flushing). I've taken it apart and it is the spring where the handle lever goes (in the component on the chair in the picture). The thing is, it is not a top push flush but a side one with a traditional looking handle. Can someone...

    Bath/ shower not draining

Thanks very much for the reply kbdiy- can I ask, what is normally considered suffcient fall, and does it matter that the plug drain doesn't go vertically down into the tiled floor to the drain, and essentially will be a diagonal pipe which goes from the plug to the floor level? Thanks again...

    Bath/ shower not draining

Dear all, I had a bathroom fitted a few months ago and would like some opinions regarding what may be wrong with my bath drain before I get the plumber back for one of many snags. If I pour around 500ml of water into the bath it starts to back up, and then drain very slowly. Likewise...
