Earth wiring for new Electric Heater

Forgive me if I am a dunderhead - Blue and brown wires for new radiator go in as expected in the same places. CBW - Earth wire from the socket can go and stay where it currently is? Not sure why this is not dangerous regarding the Earth part?

Earth wiring for new Electric Heater

Thanks for the replies - I am a bit of a novice with electrics so I need to ask the following Ericmark - what does swap the flex mean? CBW - are you saying proceed as normal? What do you mean by incoming earth to switch can remain?

Earth wiring for new Electric Heater

Hi, I am currently trying to install a new ......... (blyss wall - mounted panel heater 1500w (195jk) and I noticed that there was no earth cable for the new (heater). Upon checking the manual again I saw that it says 'this product is double insulated and must not be earthed. If there are any...

    Bolt for kitchen sink

Recently I have been trying to find somewhere I can purchase a bolt to secure my kitchen sink (like the one shown) for my food rubbish sink. It sounds like a simple task and maybe I am being a dunderhead but I cant find a bolt with a hole in it (for the plug to go in) at B & Q or screwfix or...

    Leaking kitchen tap

Hi, My kitchen tap is about 11 years old and recently I have noticed minor leaks when I use it on full power from the top of it. I think I will probably need to replace the O ring to fix it but I am having difficulty working out how to access it. I have uncovered the little hole but can not...

Putting door on Indesit built in washing machine

Recently I replaced my Smeg washing machine with an Indesit washing machine (BIWMIL81284 UK). I have managed to install it successfully but am now struggling to understand how to fit my cabinet door to the washing machine. I have two main problems 1) Contrary to what I expected different...

    Washing machine drum seal

Today I was using my Smeg washing machine when I heard a funny noise from the drums and then saw smoke. I turned the machine off and had little idea to begin with as to what had gone wrong. I checked various parts and discovered what looks like the drum seal has ripped off inside when I was...

    Lukewarm bathwater

Quick update I figured it was probably the cartridge as I had hot water elsewhere. I took it out, took a photo and sent it off to the manufacturer (Hansgrohe)to confirm the name of the part. Them and di vapor spare parts website said the same part number but di vapor were £25 cheaper...

    Lukewarm bathwater

I managed to get to the cartridge and soak it for about 45mins in white vinegar. I put it back in again and have tested it but there does not seem to be any discernable difference and so the water is still luke warm. I've enclosed a photo of the cartridge in case that helps.

    Lukewarm bathwater

Oldbuffer - I got the cap off, undid the screw in the middle within but could not find a way to take out the cartridge as there is no screw underneath. I've enclosed three photos to better explain what I mean.

    Lukewarm bathwater

Thanks oldbuffer for the advice. I have pressed the button and turned the control but it made little difference. I also unscrewed the faucet and found some more signs of calcification but it made little difference overall. I believe the model is a 'Hansgrohe - ecostat 1001 sl exposed...

    Lukewarm bathwater

I have pressed the button but it made no difference. In answer to your query - I have a range tribune cylinder. How do I open the faucet to get at the thermostatic cartridge? I am wondering if it requires turning the water off, unscrewing the two bolt parts and using a hex key on the underside...

    Lukewarm bathwater

Hi, Recently I have noticed that my bathwater is only lukewarm. For the rest of the flat i.e. kitchen tap and the bathroom sink tap the water is warm. I read the following article and it made me think maybe the faucet is calcified as the flat has now been in use for 10 years and here in London...
