What to use to protect an external door?

Ah, I didn't realise that I should use the same colour undercoat as the top coat. I just used your standard white and will be looking at painting the door black. What should I do, paint on a new undercoat?

What to use to protect an external door?

Thanks for that. 2 to 3 coats of this and then a gloss paint. I've been told that I should lightly sand down the door in between coats of the gloss. I'm trying to get that finish which you'd be able to see your own reflection in type of thing. Thanks

I want to treat it for protection and then will be looking to painting it in colour. I'd like to get some type of shine from...

Does this sound about right for a costing?

I've just asked for some basic paper and a onec over the skirting boards with a gloss. The damp area will need some work and the old paper will need to be stripped back.

Does this sound about right for a costing?

I've had a quote to re paper a 15 by 15 foot room and paint the wall after papering it. There has been some damp in the past in one of the corners and the plaster will need a coat of sealant paint on it before it's re papered. He'll also touch up the skirting board. The quote is for £540, is...

I then drive it and park it up and then come back to it the same day and it start’s OK. It seems if I leave it for more than a...

A question about insurance and no claims bonus

I did have 10 yrs plus no claims bonus. My insurance is third party and the excess is over £500. I hit a vehicle in a skid in the recent snow. It's an old car I hit, but the boot doesn't shut. The owners have checked it out and it's cost £1500 to fix. If I put it through my insurance (Who'll...

    Gas fire problems

Below is the email from the plumber: The surround that is in, is unsafe and unsuitably sealed. There are also holes and pipes inside the builders opening whereby products of combustion could travel. There was also lots of rubble and bricks which could possibly have fallen from the chimney...

    Gas fire problems

In August I had someone check my gas fire and service it and issue a gas safety cert. All OK. In the last week the fire keeps turning its self off after 5 minutes. I called in another plumber to check it out and they condemned it and said it wasn't safe. They also think the chimney will need...

    Best location for radiators

I got some small radiators under windows. A guy from BGas came round and advised moving them away as that's the current advice. I was looking at taking them out and just increasing the size of the other radiatoir. Any views? Also I've been advised that the best location to put them is...
