    Internal wall plaster

I pulled the tiles off part of the kitchen wall for refurbishment. I then removed the plaster but behind is crumbling and unstable with voids up to an inch deep. I think lathe and plaster as they used in the old days? How should I treat to make good?

    Floor insulation

Just lifted part of the floor in order to put new pipework in for a radiator. Noticed no foam or insulation. While boards are up is it worth putting some wool between joists or something else? Am on second floor of 3 storey building so be good to improve the sound insulation too. Will be...

    Touching up tiles?

I'm getting a place ready to let, kitchen has several cracked tiles. Ideally I would either re-tile or cover with new surface. However not enough time. Can I touch up these these cracked tiles in any way,? I don't know how long they have been there or what they are to get a match. The other...

    refurbishing kitchen doors?

14 including drawers. Then there is the cornice and pelmet too. I've never used air compressor or spray painted like this which may be an issue. From the videos it looks like using a roller with paint brush can also get a reasonable finish. I haven't yet taken off the vinyl off all the doors so...

    refurbishing kitchen doors?

The kitchen cabinet doors are in very bad shape as the vinyl is peeling off them. I noticed that the MDF underneath is in good shape. Is it feasible to spray paint them? I assume it would need to be done with air compressor rather than small cans? Is it feasible?

    Peeling plaster kitchen window

I have a problem with the plaster and decor around the kitchen window in a second floor apartment. It's double skin block and about 25 years old. It's not especially damp but then we have had a lot of dry weather recently. Photos show just after I have peeled off all the worst of the plaster...

    Slate tiles bathroom

I've got this slate tile flooring that was put in before I got the place. The uneven ridges hide the dirt and very impractical surface. I wonder if they are meant for outside? Any way of sealing to improve it?

    Replace bar lights with spotlights

Thanks for all responses. I think as this is ambient lighting, will probably go for flush ceiling or bar lights using existing fittings. Being a narrow kitchen and low ceiling pendant not so good.

    Replace bar lights with spotlights

yes I've got triangular lights under the cupboards but LED strips would be better. Unfortunately someone decided to the lights then tile around them afterwards so difficult to now upgrade.

    Replace bar lights with spotlights

Looking into possibility of replacing 2 ceiling bars with 4 lights in the kitchen with downlighters for a smarter look. Before getting a sparky involved how much work/cost involved? I guess need to know where the joists are in order to cut the holes?
