Ikea metod cabinets on dry wall

Foxhole, I pretty sure you're right. It looks like there are three distinct layers - the outer p. board, with its plaster skim coat, then another p. board, with a grey layer between - adhesive or insulation? Then, behind them, some sort of wood board. Happy Days!

Ikea metod cabinets on dry wall

hmmm… it may be that what I thought was a second sheet of plasterboard is in fact wood sheet - I’ll have a closer look.

Ikea metod cabinets on dry wall

My apartment was built in 2013. I would like to change the three existing kitchen cabinets for four of Ikea’s metod wall cabinets & rails. The wall that the original cabinets are hung on appears to be made from two full thickness dry boards, giving a total depth of just over 40mm. Should I...

Ikea induction hobs timers - multiple or single?

Does anyone know about the induction hobs from Ikea that have timers? I like the idea of timing individual heating zones independantly, so for example I might set one zone to 10 minutes for spuds and another zone to 45 minutes to cook a casserole. Does anyone have any experience of these hobs...

Hob that can talk to hood....

Hi, I'm about to buy an induction hob and I thought I'd narrowed down the choice to a mid-range hob from Samsung, their NZ64K7757BK. While I was on their site, to download the manual, I saw they offer a cooker hood that talks to certain hobs, the main advantage of which is that the extractor...

    OSB used as "tiles"??

OK - sounds like it might be worth looking into. TBH I was just thinking of using it as a splash-back in my kitchen, so it'll have a relatively easy life. I imagine that in the toilets I referred to, the tiles are getting regularly treated to contact with industrial-strength cleaning products -...

    OSB used as "tiles"??

On Saturday I went for lunch at the excellent Gambas in Bristol (bit pricey, but worth it...) The restaurant is one of a row of modifed containers, along with lots of other food outlets. When your beer intake has reached the point where relief is required, you go out of the door, down the...

Buying the correct screw / plug

...just checked out a number of videos on YouTube, especially Charlie White's, where he's reviewed a number of dry-wall fixings. Looks like I'll be good to use one of the re-usable toggle fixings, like Snaptoggle or Toggler, or from ScrewFix, Timco Spring Toggles. :-)

Buying the correct screw / plug

Hi folks, I recently moved into an apartment in a block which was built in 2013/4, in marked contrast to my previous house which was cobbled together in the 1900's - my, how things have changed! I got very used to dealing with the brick-built construction and was happy that shelves I put up...

    Dremel clone

I've just discovered a German tool maker called Proxxon - I bought a cute little table saw off of fleabay - it's great! Afterwards, I wondered what else they make and they do a really nice looking Dremel-a-like - check out this video on YouTube Hope that helps.

Don't know what they're called and can't find them!

D'you know what - they're there!! (Well, they are behind the one I've looked at.) Cheers... :-)

Don't know what they're called and can't find them!

Hi folks, can someone give me a steer on this one? Usually, if you don't know enough about a product, 10 minutes with Google sorts the problem out, but I've spent months on this and am getting nowhere! All I'm looking for is a packet of those little plastic blanking plugs that are (usually)...

Wall mounted actuator plate - removal Q.?

Cheers Dan! Perfect! (just for completeness sake, it slides to the left, against the plastic spring (see 2nd photo) :-)

Wall mounted actuator plate - removal Q.?

I need to take the cover plate (see photo) off to get to the parts behind, but don't know how to do it. There's no sign of screws so I think it must be held by a spring - can anyone tell me the 'secret'? It's an Ideal Standard suite, installed about 2013.
