Where can I get a blue screw cap for cold tap?

Thanks a lot guys - guess you plumbers must all be charging so much that you can afford to buy better products for yourselves. Some of us can't.

Where can I get a blue screw cap for cold tap?

Hi all, Fitted some new (cheap) basin lever taps from Screwfix this weekend, but dropped the blue screw cap off the cold tap. Can't find it anywhere and it's driving us nuts! Tried calling Screwfix for spares but no luck - cheap imports from Hong Kong they said and no spares. Anyone know...

    Regulations applied to outdoor wiring

Hi all, I've just had an old lean-to removed from the back of my house, and this has disturbed the electrics that lead to the garage at the bottom of the garden. The old wiring was unprotected inside the lean-to but runs inside hosepipe where it goes down the garden. The wiring is not...

Building Regs question for new boilers

Is it true that the current building regs require that when a new boiler is fitted, that the radiators must also be fitted with thermostatic valves? We're having a new combi boiler fitted and the corgi engineer said that he couldn't fit one with also fitting TRV's to the rads cos of building...

Help! Blistering paint from painting over unsealed artex

In some places the paint itself has blistered, and in other places the artex has come away with it. The artex is quite old (I know about the potential asbestos issue and am taking as much caution in wearing heavy duty masks as I can), but does artex go 'off' over time? Thanks Terstons_girl

Help! Blistering paint from painting over unsealed artex

Hi all, I've just painted over an old artex ceiling (house is 1930'a but I suspect ceiling is maybe 60's or 70's). The artex was unsealed. I used a very thin watery paint (B&Q economy job) which was so thin I didn't think it was worth watering down any further. However, the paint blistered in...

Lots of fine cracks in plaster walls

Hi all, I've just removed some wallpaper in my 1930's house and would like to paint the walls. The plaster is sound, previously un-painted but has a lot of fine cracks in it. These cracks are too small and far too many to fill by hand. Is there any way I can rescue this wall for painting -...

Air vents in 1930's terrace - can I seal them up?

Hi all, I have a 1930's terrace house which has airvents in the exterior walls in the bedrooms. I assume these date from when the house was heated by real fires and were needed for ventilation. Now the house has central heating and double glazing can I just seal these up? And if so is it OK...
