hi, the shaver socket in the bathroom has constantly buzzed in the bathroom since we moved in last year. Nothing is ever plugged into it but could it actually be using electricity due to buzzing?

Shaver sockets contain effectively a transformer so 'buzzing' is not uncommon.

However buzzing can be caused by other factors.

If you are confident enough, turn the power off to this circuit (usually a lighting circuit) and remove the cover and check the tightness of the connections, look for any signs of burning at the same time.

If you are still unhappy call an electrician who will be happy to check for you

The xformers buzz and this is louder when it's fixed against tiles.

A blob of sealant under the shaver f/plate acts as a damper and reduces the noise. You may also find that the resonating has caused the screws to work loose and a simple quarter turn to tighten them up will again reduce the noise.

Without attachments the shaver socket will eat a small amount of power, lost via heat and the xformer resonating.

Hi, have a look at the panel below called "similar topics". Also the search feature is a great way of find out.

Saves everyone saying the same things over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again............

These things usually have a mains switch that operates from the outlet socket(s) and so should not buzz with nothing plugged in.
I suspect that this on/off switch has jammed on.
