Hi, I would be grateful for members views. We have just paid for a floor to be laid in engineered oak, brushed and oiled after seeing the product in the showroom.

The floor has been fitted and do not feel totally satisfied. On phoning the showroom I was told to expect a bit of movement while the floor settles in the new environment etc and that the weather is changing. Is this something I should expect?

I appreciate the sample we would have seen in the showroom would have been exceptional but would be grateful for additional opinions after having a look at the images I have uploaded.

Many Thanks

Can't see any images, did you upload them here?

When was the floor installed?

Apologies I did upload them, but didn't realise I needed to click on them to insert them.

The floor was laid last Thurs/Fri a total area of approx 32m. Pictures below: -

The fitter is coming round this week to fit the door bars and the missus will be pointing this out. The shop manager is aware but is generally indicating that it is because 2 years ago the floor was a living tree etc.

Grateful for your views (and hope the pictures are clear enough!)

that doesnt look right to me....... that isnt just movement there are gaps!!!!

Did they glue it together or just bish bash bosh it on the floor and leg it...

Im gonna be fitting my own floor in a month or so. and would be ****ed off with myself if I left gaps like that.

Be interested to see what they say!!

the flooring is machined and therefore has a tolerance in sizes
you'll probably find that the gaps will close in the summer.

Beg to differ. One of the pictures clearly shows one board is seemingly higher than the others = wrong fitting or a very bad quality of flooring.

wood works during the seasons, that's right, due to changes in humidity. This is a completely different matter.

Many thanks for your responses. The more the wife looks at it the more she is disappointed. With some of the gaps you can even see the 'tongue' below.

The floor has been fixed on top of an underlay, over floorboards using 'invisible' nails. Our hallway floor, using B&Q real wood top layer flooring, fitted by a family friend (who incidentally is a floor fitter) has no such gaps.

I wil update the post once i hear more

The plot thickens.......

On our receipt for the flooring it clearing states the product we requested, Montana Oak Rustic 1398 Brushed and Oiled. Which is a product i can see advertised on many other sites.

The wife dug out a set of instructions from the boxes that were used. It states it is Anbo Solid Hardwood Flooring which is completely different from what we ordered. Also we have had a carpenter round who did say he would not have laid it like it was but did say you might get gaps if the room/floor wasn't square.

It now all depends on what the shop manager says but given that I haven't got the product I ordered and paid for i guess I should be entitiled to a refund!!

Has anyone else got comments/suggestions on how I should approach this

Many Thanks

tell the people who supplied and fitted the floor your not happy it isn,t what you orderd and your dissapointed with the fitting, get it ripped out by them and go and buy your product of a reputable shop

I have discovered that the Montana Rustic 1398 product is manufactured by Furlong Flooring which I believe source their wood from Europe. Anbo however are chinese owned and their wood comes from China.

Is anybody able to confirm this?

I did speak with another supplier over the weekend who confirmed that the Montana range comes in pack sizes of 2.11 m and will have 2 full length boards and 2 half boards.

The laid floor currently has approx 20 boards of approx 300mm!!

The shop manager has been round to take a look and takes some pictures so will now be waiting to hear
