That is very kind of you to give it so much attention.

I have bought a "spares repair" of the same model, and intend to have a look at that with a view to trying to desolder, then I can answer the question. Likewise, no luck with the same terminals, so taking them off may be the only solution........or as most would say, time to buy a new phone.

The "spares repair" has turned up and I think the only reason it is described as that is there is no charger, the battery is therefore flat - but when I tried to power it up with one of my batteries and my SIM card it told me that it's "locked and on the Orange network".
I have tried, but not yet found where I can get a free unlock code, and I have yet to find the phones IMEI code.
Though someone had tried and chewed up the screws I have got it open and it is in far better condition than mine - now in two minds.
I will have another look after my shift, probably in the morning.

Nothing special about button batteries all are not more than 3v and the number helps to give the size. A 614 is 6.8mm x 1.4mm or a cr2032 is 20mm x 3.2. . I buy cards of 40 various batteries for spares for £2 and as long as its near the size and makes contact it's fine. A field repair is to pack it out with kitchen foil to tighten it. Don't directly solder it though because it could explode.

thanks for that; if I can unlock the replacement cheap then I make use that instead.

Well I have tried to desolder the battery from the second phone (as practice), I think the small contact has disconnected but the larger one, from the top of the battery, has not, i.e. it is still holding though I seem to have removed all of the solder. The next thing would be to cut off that terminal.

Have looked into "unlocking" but would be more confident if someone has used such a piece of software.

Well I tried..... got the batteries out of both today, and the "spares replacement" was showing charge though the original was not. Swapped them over and no different, but think I broke one of the contacts, and it's so small I cannot sort it.

Will have to just keep resetting the clock and not use the "onboard" phone book.
