You need 1 1/4" waste pipe and the trap needs to be fitted the sink waste, a bottle trap would work well, then an elbow to take it down to the waste with another elbow to join to existing waste. You may need a coupling as well.

Would a flexi pipe work with the current pipe ? Or are they a waste of time? That's my dads hands panel beater for about 40 odd years :)

And some cream for your hands!
If it's due to cement burn, hardly anything commercially available will work.
Try Emu Oil mixed with Geranium Essential Oil.

11/4" BSP is correct.

Edit:  Just noticed it's a panel beater's hand. He could still try my suggestion.

Reason I ask is I'm not familiar with bsp sizes and when I check them online the sizes don't look the same as my basin size so just making sure, on a side note think he uses some kind of oil based product but ill pass your info on !

11/4" BSP is closer to 11/2" actual diameter, if that's what you mean.
You show some waste pipe with an outside diameter of 32mm. That's 11/4" in old money, so it stands to reason that the waste (plughole) will be, also.
