Motorbikes!

I've never seen the TT as the hotel prices are nuts, but I go to the GP from time to time (end of August).....same riders and bikes, plus the classics which make your ears bleed :eek: - rear tyre the width of a grommet :p
Encouraging are the hay bales packed around the lamp posts, and the odd sign that says 'head in' :p
If you haven't been, its a must!

ive never been watching the tt, but its gotta be done! my dad went to mugello a couple of years ago watching moto gp n he still goes on about it now
 
Here's one of my VTR, that was when I bought it, looks a wee bit different now. Hugger stickers gone, VFR clip-ons, back to single headlight and OEM footpegs.....awful Chinese rear indicators changed too.

I've owned GSXR600 , R1 and WRF426 enduro and had great fun on all those. But the most fun was the off road stuff with the WRF426 that I had converted to 450cc with a Wiseco piston kit due to an engine mishap with it ingesting dirty water while out Green Laneing.
Sold them all now and gone back to drag racing with my 1968 Camaro race car. Safer with a rollcge around you . ;)

I've got a Cagiva XtraRaptor which I had since around 2006, I try and do as much of The Round Britain Rally each year as I can, got a gold award this year.

Havnt rode for a couple of years now, last bike was a 99 fireblade, the mrs done her cbt around 3 week ago and has a 125, shes not wanting to do a full test yet as she was unsure wether she would like motorcycling or not but she seems to be liking it so far even tho the weathers crap.

Lightened, modified & Power Commander now done 61,000 miles from new. All I've done by way of maintenance is oil and filter. (Never seem to find the time for shim check). Only problem was a stupid TPS. A spring loaded potentiometer basically. Cost £76!!! :evil:

Produces at the back wheel what a standard one produces at the engine. Very comfy, have taken it on The Continent several times. Best tourer IMHO.

Tried Busa and BMW S1000RR. Loved the Busa but uncomfortable for a tall guy. BMW was crap, couldn't wait to get off. Great bike, lots of poke, but built for a dwarf! Got cramp in my legs after seconds, had to stop. Wrists were killing me after half an hour. Needed my neck on a ball joint to look forward. Hurt for two weeks after; thought I'd done permanent damage! Could not wait to get back on my KLV

Sail to Santander, then Biarritz, ride the Pyrenees to Carcassonne :cool:
The VFR has 200 miles - then vapour! Not to happy about that one :eek:

That’s about the same range as mine when I’m getting a wriggle on. :rolleyes:

Best advice I ever had about travelling abroad was to fill up no matter if you have half a tank left.

Unlike England, you can go for a very long way on The Continent without passing a single petrol station. Or, as I intend to do next time, get a small petrol can. I have one from Hein Gereike which only holds about three pints, but it’s better than nothing.
 
Few things spook me more than getting low on juice :eek: and Northumberland is poor for gas stations at the best of times.
At least the Viffer has a miles remaining gauge and an accurate computer on board so I look for gas after 120 miles - not really enough though!
I'll check out the Hein Gericke container, but they always seem to be going broke? The Newcastle store closed ages ago.
At least my summer tour is in the company of a mate with a Beemer 1200GS Adventure or something....his tank is the size of the Exxon Valdez!

Well my VTR won't make it to even 120 miles....I think......Fuel light comes on at 110....and that's considered good for a VTR. :LOL:

Yep Andy. I'm chomping on the Bit to get out but feeling I should swap motorbike for canoe lately.... :(

this is my bike, apologies for the huge image, it is 25 yrs old, quite expensive in repairs/maintenance but it does 50-52 mpg, yamaha xj600f pre diversion. i am 64, i'd like to keep it going for another few years but we will have to see :)
