Can you please help?

We have a transformer with 3 outlets for 12v lighting

Each output has a square symbol on one output and 1.5 marked on the other.

Can you advise which one is the live output ?

If it's something like this: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p11098
then the 1.5 refers to the maximum wire size, and the output is isolated AC so it matters not which terminal is which. They are both the same.

As above, it refers to the maximum size cable 1.5 that will fit and it dont matter what way round for the 2 wires, anyway in most cases the lamp can be fitted any way round in the lamppholder
