Noises and cut out on Potterton Combi Boiler

Hi

Our boiler was making a crackling noise about a couple of weeks ago. I prayed the problem would go away and it did.

However, now we have a problem with the boiler cutting out. The pilot light stays on but the main plate (I don't know the techie name) flames go out.

When I give the front of the boiler a knock, it seems to get it going again

Please can anyone help

Thanks for replying.

Here's a little more info

1) Boiler make / model (gas or oil)

Potterton Prima F Gas Boiler

2) What is / is not happening

The main burner goes out when the boiler should be running. Sometimes there is a loud crackling noise coming from the boiler

3) Has ANYTHING else been done / changed recently

No

4) When did it (problem) start

About 1 week ago

5) When does it happen? eg, heating coming on or going off

Intermittently when the boiler should be on

6) Anything else you feel may be of relevance

I have bled the radiators. The radiators/water are hot when the burner is on

I would say that you have a blocked gas jet going into the main burner this is easy to cure but get the pros in because of the gas aspect
